Is it fair for cartoonists who are not actually fighting in the war to make fun of it?  Does it violate the rights of the soldiers to "belittle" the thing which they are fighting for?

World War One Cartoons

 We all are exposed to cartoons cartoons everyday, so what function do they play in our life?

All students are going to draw a number of "political"/"editorial" cartoons to help us understand a number of the situations being faced before, during and after the war.

There are seven different cartoon "frames" frames I want you to create.  It might help you to research the situation before you start drawing so you better understand the event and can give us a clear idea of what you are talking about/drawing.

Each cartoon should include a caption in the cartoon and a paragraph below it explaining the term/situation.

The seven cartoons include;

(1) European Nationalism,

(2) European Imperialism,

(3) Making of treaties- The Triple Alliance, Triple Entente,

(4) Assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand,

(5) Trench Warfare,

(6) German surrender,

(7) Treaty of Versailles.

Here are a couple of cartoons to use as examples- see if you can guess which terms/situations they fit with.
